Meet the Artists

Zanifa Rasool (They/She)

Zanifa Rasool is a recent graduate of the Honours and Devised program at the University of Winnipeg. They are a multi-disciplinary artist trained primarily in acting and directing.  They were part of the One Trunk Theatre residency program in 2021 and Creative Manitoba mentorship. In Spring 2023, they will be an assistant director at RMTC as part of the apprenticeship program.  They are an Indo-Caribbean, queer,  artist of colour who is more than excited to be on this journey with such amazing colleagues and friends!!

Noah Boonov (She/They)

Noah Boonov is a Winnipeg-born-Ottawa-raised, multidisciplinary artist. Noah has trained with Canterbury High School’s Drama Program (2016), The Village Conservatory for Music Theatre program (2021), and UWinnipeg’s Honours Devised Theatre program (2022). They recently completed a residency with One Trunk Theatre. She is currently participating in The Village Conservatory for Music Theatre’s mentorship podcast, It Takes Two with Ari Weinberg. Noah examines their identities as a feminist, queer, jewish, and neurodivergent person through their art. They enjoy performance, collaborative creation, and songwriting. Yours Queerly is a labour of love and Noah cannot wait to explore queer topics with her favourite collaborators!

Sarah Struthers (They/Them)

Sarah Struthers is a queer and non-binary theatre artist and multidisciplinary creative based in Treaty 1 Territory. As a graduate of the University of Winnipeg’s Honours Devised Theatre program, Sarah specializes in movement-based storytelling and creating whimsical masks out of recycled materials. Most recently, Sarah was a Screen Dance Artist in Residence with Young Lungs Dance Exchange and they are currently being mentored by Alex Elliott through the Creative Manitoba Professional Mentorship program. They are looking forward to collectively collaborating with the artists of Yours Queerly.

Ben Robinson Hoppa (He/They) / Aria Zero (She/They)

Ben Robinson Hoppa / Aria Zero is a queer artist and a 2022 graduate of the University of Winnipeg Theatre and Film Program where they focused on devised theatre, alongside creative production courses. In their work, they are inspired by video games, cartoons, and fantasy, and strive to create and perform whimsical, exaggerated characters and stories that are accessible to and can be enjoyed by anyone. While newer to performing live events in drag, they began developing their skills in 2020 and have utilized live streaming and digital platforms to host, perform, and entertain. They are excited to be a part of Yours Queerly, and are looking forward to working with their friends and colleagues.
